INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING AND

COLOUR THEORY

 

Length: 8 weeks Cost: $200

 

This course will be an introduction to colour theory and colour mixing involving practical skills. This is an important part of the process of learning to paint. Students will progress from the theory and mixing part of the programme to learning how to apply their colour knowledge to setting up their own designs and learning techniques.

 

Colour theory and mixing is an important part of the painting process. It cuts out the time wasted on guessing and trying to work out “how do I do this?”

 

All students are encouraged to paint using the grey scale to obtain an understanding of depth and volume within their work.

PAINTING YOUR OWN

PROJECT

 

Length: 8 weeks Cost: $200

 

This is a follow on from the introduction where you will learn about lighting, subject, palette to painting; the components of pictorial expression including motivation, composition, tone and colour. You will also learn the elements and principles of design.

 

Students will be guided in the step by step process of producing a master piece from their own ideas.

Painting Classes

The next term of classes will be starting on August 28 to October 16, 2008.

Each class is 2 1/2 hours long and held every Thursday.

Session times are 9.30am to 12 and 12.30 to 3pm.

The teacher is Penny Barrow.

 

Due to limited numbers of students per class and a consequent waiting list,

fees are non-transferable to another term/non-refundable after the classes have commenced

 

All classes are taught using the Genesis Heat Set Oils as these paints are certified non toxic and conform to ASTM D-4236. However, the techniques that are adaptable to traditional oils.
